Do It Day is a GreaterGood South Africa campaign which connects groups of willing volunteers with good causes for one amazing day.

We're looking for Do It Day volunteering project proposals from GreaterGood-registered causes to reach us by Friday, 18th July 2008.

This is your chance to:

• Get the free services of skilled or non-skilled volunteers for a day
• Build relationships with corporate and individual volunteers
• Promote your organisation and the value of volunteering to the public
  

High impact projects

Our focus this year is on high impact, needs-based projects that will be of lasting value to causes. Some examples of creative volunteering projects are:

• An architect could spend the day consulting on a low-cost housing project.
• A stay-at-home mum could read to children at an early learning centre.
• A church group could hold an afternoon tea party at an old age home.
• High-flyers at an investment bank could give CV advice to youth at risk.
• Advertising executives could produce a fundraising brochure.
• A plumber could fix leaks at a children's home.
  

Identify your needs

Please think about the essential skills gaps in your organisation as well as the usual 'sweat-equity' projects like painting, gardening and clean ups. Your project should involve volunteer skills and/or labour, and if you need materials to make it happen, your budget must not exceed R4,000.
